Last month, I was asked to offer family gift ideas. It was fun to remember the ideas we’ve come up with over the years. And to consider what makes a gift really worthwhile!
Just in case you’re getting to that frantic time of wondering what meaningful gifts you can offer your family, I’d thought I’d share my list with you! I love unique gifts that bring us together as a family. If you have any that worked for you, please share them in the comments section.
Here’s “a few of my favorite things” we’ve done over the years.
* Soda Machine – Last year we splurged and gave our family and our adult children the parts to make their own soda machine. This consists of a CO2 tank, meters, and tubing. The tank is the most expensive part, but even at that cost, it only takes a little over a year to re-coup it’s cost by your savings. The ‘machine’ will last for years and make soda water for pennies per liter. You can find plans on the internet, making it an easy family project. It’s really easier than it looks, plus making the carbonated water is easy. All you have to do is add natural juice concentrate or flavored stevia, or enjoy it plain for a delicious and healthy drink. No more high calorie/sugar filled sodas for us!
* Games – like Catan, are always a good value because of the family time they offer us. It’s always fun when someone in our family shares their latest find in the game world.
* Family Trips – The gift of a family ski trip (Sipapu, an economical/family resort, and Taos are our favorites!) or Silver Dollar City season pass tickets were big hits. Just FYI, SDC is a Branson, MO theme/amusement park set in the 1800s with craftsmen who exhibit their skills in glass blowing, blacksmithing, woodcarving, and more. Again, these are things our family can enjoy and build memories together.
I’d love to hear your gift ideas. Please share them in the comments section below.
I hope you make time to enjoy this special time of year. Take time to bless others with creativity in your gift giving. And don’t be afraid of homemade items! They share the heart of the giver so well.
God Bless Us, Everyone!
