I’ve had lots of comments on my “living above the noise” name. It has connected with many of my readers. They say it gives them a clear picture and points them in the right direction.
When I first heard that term I just knew it summed up so much of my “many lessons” – how I’ve learned and still am learning to rise above the noisy din of the world around me. Above the ruckus of life.
To live above the noise involves so many aspects of our life.
The world tries to take from us — our energy, our time, our thoughts, our passions, our money.
Have you really considered the suggestive moves of the world around you? Luring you from your goals and dreams and obedience to your commitments? That’s the noise I’m talking about.
And there’s more.
The temptation of having it all, doing it all, buying it all, eating it all – should I go on. There’s also the noise of what others think of us, want of us, say about us, do better than us.
Take a few minutes to add your list here. I’m sure you, too, have a lot of noise! Take time to think what steals your joy, overwhelms you, makes you feel inadequate.
Then give them to God. Pray for wisdom and discernment as to what to do with them. What to get rid of, what to put on the back burner, what to say no to.
Living above the noise brings peace and rest.
Above all, God desires us to live for Him, for His glory. And the best way we can do this — actually, the only way — is to live above the ruckus around us. To be centered in His will and focused on what He deems important.
Let’s learn and grow together in this amazing life we’ve been given!
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 1 John 3:1
