Jesus words in Luke 12 gives me a lot to think about! The Master speaks of our treasures.
Treasures….
- What are they?
- Where do they come from?
- How earnestly do I seek them?
- What do I give up to get them?
Jesus reminds us in verse 30 that God knows we have needs.
“And do not seek what you shall eat, and what you shall drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.” Luke 12:29-30
But He adds in verse 31, that we must “seek for His Kingdom, and these things shall be added to you.” Wow! Just think about what that is really saying!
As I’ve been worrying about the changes in my life and my family, about what we will “eat and drink,” God has been planning and desiring to bless me with His Kingdom….plus all those things I’m worrying about – food, clothing, family relationships, and more!
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the Kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Luke 12:32-34
Yep! Those are Jesus’ words! And if you look closely, He is telling us that if our heart is right, if our treasure truly is in His Kingdom, and not in our own or of this world, then we won’t miss a thing! His sustenance and His provisions will be just enough to satisfy anyone whose heart is for the King.
Oh my, those are words to relish and bathe in as we enter this festive, but oftentimes greedy, time of year. And as we enter into this new year of political and financial uncertainty. It’s a year that we can choose even more persistently to seek the King, and His Kingdom….
…..and all these things shall be added unto you!
Blessings today as you seek Him!
And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. For life is more than food, and the body than clothing.” Luke 12:22-23
